The head of state emphasized that the exercise is “organizational” and “check-up,” so it will not involve a movement of weapons. The objective is to fine-tune the command, leadership and communication mechanisms of the national defense system.

The operation will include the national and regional structures of the FANB, the 335 Integral Defense Areas (ADI), the 5,336 Militia Community Units (UCM) and the 15,751 Popular Bases for Integral Defense (BPDI).

Nicolás Maduro pointed out that with these actions Venezuela continues to build its “military people’s power” as an immense popular movement.

“Because Venezuela is respected,” he said.

“Venezuela will not accept intimidation”

This Thursday, the Ministries of People’s Power for Defense and Foreign Affairs, rejected the illegal incursion of U.S. fighter aircraft, just 75 kilometers off the coast of the South American nation, near Maiquetía.

The Minister of Defense, General in Chief Vladimir Padrino López, denounced the provocation of the U.S. fighters, “more than 5 vectors with flight characteristics of 400 knots and flying at an altitude of 35,000 feet.”

The Bolivarian government assured that “Venezuela will not accept intimidation or foreign aggression” and reiterated that “it will fully exercise its right to defend national sovereignty.”

The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) will remain on permanent alert with the Integrated Aerospace Defense System and will denounce what happened to the Secretary General of the United Nations, the Security Council, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

Caracas will fully exercise its rights of defense, based on international provisions that guarantee the sovereignty of states, the statement states.

Likewise, the importance of cooperation between regional governments to preserve the zone of peace in Latin America and the Caribbean, recognized by CELAC in its founding declaration, is emphasized
